Yesterday I said goodbye to a friend of 16+ years. He suffered a massively severe tail pull injury (likely from a car) which left him in such a condition we felt it right to not put him through the stress of any reduced quality of life.
His constant whinging meow for any passing attention and/or food often resulted in him being ejected from my vicinity or an ‘oh stop it cat’, every trip to the kitchen was to feed him in his mind so he would be straight out to remind anyone of this. Waking me up in the early hours of the morning requesting to come in didn’t bother him too much either - a closed window was never an obstacle, sadly I can’t find that video. That being said he more than made up for all his annoying traits with all the amusing positions or locations he chose to lay in and his general laid back attitude which allowed us to do numerous things to him. Knowing that I heard his meow for the last time last night makes all the times he woke me at 2am seem so trivial now.
Jacob never went far from the house unless he was following one of the family before being shooed back so I can’t understand how this happened, treasure the time you have with your pets, take photos/videos because you simply don’t know what will happen.
See you buddy #cat #goodbye #🐱
