APA Alumni, Tweak, was adopted over 19 years ago and her mom, Rachel, says that every day she’s spent with her has been a gift. For months during the fall of 2000 Rachel spent every weekend visiting the different St. Louis area shelters in search of a cat. While she wanted to save all the cats that she met, she didn’t connect with any of them enough to bring one home. Then, one fateful Saturday in December, during her weekly visit to the APA, Rachel’s life changed forever. That morning as she prepared to head out to the shelter, she decided that if she didn’t make a match, she would need to take a break from her search. Once at the APA, Rachel walked around and looked at all the cat enclosures, but she still didn't feel like she had connected with any cat in particular. As she rounded a corner, two tiny paws grabbed her shoulder and she was immediately claimed for life.
Rachel’s life hasn’t been the same since. She says that Tweak has proven to be her most loyal companion and has taught her so much about unconditional love. Since her adoption, Tweak has lived in 2 countries and 8 states, was a local celebrity (deemed "Most Studious" in 2015), and this fall won Best Costume as Ruth Bader GinsPurr at her vet's office. Rachel says that she is forever grateful to the APA for bringing Tweak into my life, and we’re sure that Tweak feels the same way!
