This little guy has been through a lot this week. Last Saturday, we noticed him squatting to pee in a laundry basket full of clothes. We knew something was off because both cats have never gone anywhere besides their litter box. He was straining and dribbling pee every few steps. The vet found that he had a UTI and constipation. He also had at least 12 bladder stones (0.5mm - 1mm each) in his bladder and urethra that were making it hard for him to go. We had to hospitalize him for 3 nights so he could get IV fluids and a catheter.
Fortunately, the stones seem to have dissolved and he is peeing normally, so we were able to bring him home this morning. We learned how to give him subcutaneous fluids for the next week and he's still on a few meds, but he is happy to be home. He ate a whole can of his prescription food and has been drinking lots of water. Thank you to the amazing doctors and staff at @kingstreetpethospital for taking such great care of him, even when he ripped off his IV line, catheter, and cone and chewed on the IV tubing! 🖤
