Meet Ragnar, a sweet chunky GSD I spent an hour training and evaluating and will be training in the future. Roughly the same age as Bear, with the same behaviorial issues Bear had to work through before he could ever be a prospect. - "He's aggressive, attacks other dogs, attacks people, isnt leash trained". Ragnar is a failed border patrol dog, failed because he was considered aggressive. On meeting their other dogs we discussed the GSD they had at home and his behavior. I gave a crash course on temp dealing with the issues, so they brought him. -
15 minutes smelling through the gate, Ragnar went from growling at the boys to whining to play. 30min on leash with my boys in proximity but out of potential danger zone. Switched to keeping my boys and Ragnar on opposite ends and played. Walked with Ragnar alone, then with two separate leashes, then the tandem leash as they were mellow with each other. Eventually (not on video) they were off leash, together, chasing the ball. Ragnar has so much to work on but he isn't a lost cause. Helping his family see that warms my heart so much. I can't wait to watch this sweet boy transform and progress, eventually getting his CGC. -
Here's to my future as a dog trainer and Ragnar's future as a dog not confined to the house.
Disclaimer - I'm not any kind of certified dog trainer (yet), but I have been training dogs almost all my life. I understand the risks, and animal behavior. This is my neighbors dog, I'm not taking their money to do this. -
