In the US, next week is the week when families across the nation get together to discuss oh so many uncomfy intergenerational differences that show up in our turkey trances. Also, if you aren’t railing against this day as a day of Indigenous human rights, what are you actually doing on this day? Speak truth to power beauties, you can never go wrong that way.

Tool/Resource: How To Talk To Your Family About Racism On Thanksgiving.
I often get asked “where do I start doing the work?” and my answer is often: At your family table.
In the world of social media we can feel like our words don’t matter is we don’t have a ‘platform’. I can’t stress enough that you have a sphere of influence and any space you occupy IS your platform. Your classroom, your church, your book club, your PTA, your living room, your dinner table.
I wrote this guide last year for @harpersbazaarus and it’s still deeply relevant.
You can click the link in my bio to read the full piece. If you feel you get value from my work and tools shared here I’d love for you to consider honoring my work tangibly. [Cashapp: $rcargle Venmo: @rachelcargle or PayPal.me/rachelcargle]
Excerpt: “Toxic ideologies often start around family dinner tables. It's not just an uncle saying a racist joke, or a grandmother determining her xenophobic ideas as “a part of her time.” These comments seep into how we make decisions in voting booths, how judges rule in their chambers, how teachers guide students in school classrooms, how employment decisions are made, and how police react in high-stakes situations......”
