This morning was hard. I found Cashew agonal breathing (a brainstem reflex before death). I worked on him for about 3 hours before he finally passed away. When otherwise healthy kittens don't respond to fading kitten protocol and pass away unexpectedly, it usually means something serious was wrong. Something that was wrong from the very start and finally caught up with them. Something almost always unfixable. It's so hard to not blame yourself when a kitten passes, but so important to remember that you were the reason they had a fighting chance.
