Happy Leap Year day 2-29-20! 🦸
I hope you had a great week! Mine had some great moments. 👍
My book creators’ class taught by @EricKoester was a high point. 📖 This week I was paired with a developmental editor, or “DE.” 📝 DEs help guide content and structure. They help ensure a book is heading in the right direction. 🧭 I’m really nervous about the challenge and hope my DE, Allison, will help me succeed! 🎯
This week several introductions made by Clark 🌍🌎🌏 (the center of the digital universe) resulted in phone interviews 📞 and I’ve received one internship offer so far. 🌟 HOORAY! All of the companies have unique strengths, and any of them would offer stellar learning opportunities. I’ve always believed in the concept of “meritocracy”🏅 where talent and performance are rewarded — but this experience has proven the power of “who you know.” 🙏
Other stuff hasn’t been so great.
First, today my husband was in a car accident. 🚗 🚚 He wasn’t hurt, but our car was. The driver who caused the accident accepted responsibility, but it’s still going to be a hassle to get the car fixed. ☹️
Another niggling thing is, I’ve had an ongoing disconnect with one of my professors. 👴 He’s the most rigid and apathetic person I’ve "never" met. (The course is online.) If I hadn’t seen him in a video, I would seriously question whether he is an actual, sentient human being. 🧟
Have you ever been subjected to seemingly arbitrary directives from someone who had power over you — like a boss, supervisor or partner? 🗣️ Did you find a way through it? 🌀 I’d love to hear how you handled it.
