It’s probably time for a cat update ... Some of you might remember that one of our older cats, Sophie, had to go to the vet for an ulcer on her eye last month. While she was there, they did a blood test to check she’s okay to have painkillers which unexpectedly came up with signs for kidney failure. Since then she’s spent a couple of days in the vet hospital and been going for weekly visits to the vet surgery, which has helped us identify that she’s most likely got chronic kidney disease.
The good news is that she’s probably got a fair few years left in her yet, especially as she’s not showing any obvious symptoms or signs of distress and still has a good appetite on her! We’ve had to put her on a special renal diet (no small feat to manage with 3 other curious cats in the house who fancy the look of the more expensive food!) and she will be going back in for more check ups over the next few months to see how she’s responding to the new diet.
