Happy fourth adoption anniversary, Ruth Bader Ginsburg!
I never intended to adopt a cat the day I met you. We had to let Maggie go in late July of that year, and I simply wanted to get used to the idea of another cat. I knew I wanted one (Purrcy was lonely, missing his sister too), but I didn’t want to make unfair comparisons, which I truly feared I’d do because Maggie had such an impact on my life. .
But then I saw you. .
And then I held you. .
I felt a sense of peace and absolute love in that moment. You’d chosen me.
And ever since you’ve been my gal. We’ve been through a lot—learning you were asthmatic, my third hip surgery, learning I have asthma, and so much more. But our love never falters. Sometimes I wonder if that’s why you picked me (and convinced Jeff—who now adores you to the moon and back—it wasn’t too soon for another kitty). You knew you’d be loved and cared for no matter what.
You will always be my Ruth, Ruthis, Ruthie, RBG, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, my sweet girl. Here’s to many more years together!
