When the temps go down in winter ❄️, we start making shelters for our #communitycats
Volunteers are working all over the area to make cozy and creative shelters that we distribute to the community for free. The cats love them!
You can make your own! Be creative: use a styrofoam box, an old cooler, or plastic bins. Google “winter cat shelters” for ideas and videos. In an emergency, you can even cover a cardboard box with a large trash bag, cut an opening, tape as needed, and fill with shredded newspaper. But in general, we recommend making a six-inch diameter hole and filling the shelter with straw (not hay - and not blankets either, because they can get wet and freeze). And! You can join us for food and fun at our annual shelter build on Sunday, Nov 17. It’s from 12-4 at the Thomas Dunn Learning Center, 3113 Gasconade St
Saint Louis, MO 63118. Check us out on Facebook for more information.
