⚠️Ringworm Alert⚠️ Unfortunately it has been confirmed that the Riverdale Litter have ringworm. Now, ringworm sounds a LOT scarier than it actually is. Unlike the name suggest, ringworm is not actually a type of worm, it is a fungal skin infection.
Ringworm is one of the most common zoonotic conditions we see in the rescue industry (meaning it can be transferred between animals and people, and visa versa). This means it requires a large amount of quarantine away from other animals, and barrier nursing techniques to ensure it is not passed onto people.
These babies will be on twice weekly Malaseb washes and will be receiving oral medication to treat this fungal infection.
We desperately need foster carers to join TKNA as Ringworm carers to help babies like the Riverdale Litter. We will provide all medication and support in treating this condition. Ringworm isn't a terminal illness, and it saddens us to think so many babies are euthanised every year due to this very treatable condition. So if you would like to help save a life (literally!), please complete a Foster Carers application form through our website www.thekittennursery.org.au, and make sure to specify you would like to help with ringworm babies. 🐱Every kitten deserves a chance🐱
