Angel and co cat Mickey fled to the bush when the family was forced to evacuate the wildfires. The family despaired ever seeing the cats again as the surrounding area was reduced to ashes in the ferocity of the fire. To the delight of the family,🐈Angel reappeared a week later, with fire singed coat and burnt ears. She has had to have vet attention, but is recovering well under the circumstances. It is believed she may have survived by going underground into a wombat burrow. Wombats dig out extensive warrens which other native animals inhabit in times of emergency. The wombats are said to be tolerant of burrow squatters in extraordinary situations. The Bega Valley Vets treated the fire injured Angel at no expense. This is the sort of quiet heroism that is being seen across rural Australia during this time of Climate Crisis.
The native animal death toll from the Australian wildfires is estimated to be at one billion.
60 thousand🐨koalas have perished.
One hundred thousand🐂🐑🐄stock animals have had to be put down.
And from the recently fire ravaged Kangaroo Island; 25 thousand🐨koalas are believed to have perished.
This is ecocide on a massive scale. Innocent animals are the first line victims of Climate Crisis.
The Australian population is just registering the horror of Climate Change. Incompetent governance from a coal loving lobby has exacerbated the situation into a major catastrophe. 🧯Fire Chiefs and Climate Scientists have been warning for years about the perils of Climate Change.
The Australian Veterinary Association has warned there will need to be fodder drops in remote areas for the native animal fire survivors ASAP.
The Australian population has been brutally jolted into protest action to drive the Government into declaration of Climate Emergency.
40,000 people protested in Sydney and 30,000 in Melbourne on 10 January 2020 in the🔥 #bushfirerebellion
